Timeline

Founded in 1990 by Peter DePierro, who serves as CEO , and Gary Langton, company president, Quadrant Software is one of the fastest growing software companies in Southeastern Massachusetts.

Now in its 2nd decade, Quadrant Software’s products have provided reliable, leading-edge software solutions that increase user productivity, lower overhead costs and improve communication. Today, by integrating forms, fax and email, Quadrant Software offers a full suite of Paperless Process Management (PPM) solutions that eliminate the need for pre-printed forms, reduce postage and long-distance phone costs and promote peak employee efficiency by electronically creating, managing and distributing mission critical documents (invoices, purchase orders, sales orders and order acknowledgments) from a user’s familiar desktop environment.

The following timeline illustrates the company’s milestones in product development:

1990-1991  1992-1994  1995-1997  1998-1999  2000-2001  2002-2003  2003-2004  2005  Future

1990-1991 Automated Fax and Form Management
With the introduction of its FastFax Family of Products, Quadrant Software was the first company to allow users to capture and fax “screen shots,” spooled files, office documents and queries without leaving the iSeries 400 environment. Until this time, such activities required complex, server-side programming. During its first year of operation, Quadrant Software was immediately welcomed into IBM’s Business Partner Program.

1992-1994 FastFax Development Tools
Quadrant Software is the first company to give information technology (IT) specialists the ability to customize fax software using FastFax Development Tools. In 1993, IBM choose FastFax to be the first fax software in the world to have their Facsimile Support/400 bundled in the latest release.

In 1994, Quadrant introduced a key innovation to its FastFax product line. FastFax/WindowFax empowered end-user computers with fax capabilities. As a result, every PC attached to the company server became a virtual fax machine.

1998-1999 FastFax/LAN and the E-Mail Gateway
In 1998, Quadrant Software introduced the first enterprise fax server hardware system to create a single fax solution for both iSeries 400 and local area network (LAN) environments. FastFax/LAN included management features to control large amounts of inbound and outbound communications from the iSeries 400, Microsoft Windows NT, and Novell NetWare environments.

In 1999, E-Mail Gateway was released to facilitate eBusiness. When used in conjunction with FastFax, E-Mail Gateway allows any user to send and receive faxes directly from their Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, Novell Groupwise or SMTP email server. Users saved time and gained the flexibility to email and fax from a single, familiar desktop environment. Users simply selected a recipient, attached a document (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Lotus 1-2-3 and many more) and sent the email. Documents could be delivered by fax, email, or both, depending on the recipient’s preferences.

Quadrant also released the latest version FastFax/LAN for companies seeking a local area network only solution.

FastFax/Ultra, an Enterprise Fax server that securely and reliably managed fax traffic on the iSeries 400, was also released in the first quarter of 2000.

FastFax Integration Modules for major application vendors grew to include PeopleSoft, Infor, BPCS, and interBiz/PRMS.

2002-2003 Better Documents. Better Delivery. Better Together.
Building on Formtastic Fusion5’s success, Quadrant Software introduced FormsPacks, a pre-designed suite of digital documents that includes all the data mapping required for immediate forms production. Available in application-specific bundles or a broad eBusiness package, FormsPacks allows Quadrant Software customers to implement digital forms with maximum efficiency.

Simultaneous to enhancing its forms software, Quadrant Software further augmented its MICR checks solution, Formtastic Checks, by partnering with TROY Systems to provide truly dependable and secure check printing hardware. This partnership provides customers with the convenience and security of an end-to-end solution (encompassing hardware, software and technical support) for MICR check printing. Quadrant Software’s industry leading Enterprise Fax solution, FastFax/Enterprise, also took great leaps forward as it was upgraded with powerful benefits and features allowing users and administrators to further leverage their LAN and iSeries 400 networks with the dependable delivery of mission-critical documents by print, fax, and email.

To provide convenient, affordable, and high-quality training, Quadrant Software created ClickScholar - an online product training center for customers and partners. ClickScholar provides instructor-led classes for administrators, users, and developers using Quadrant Software's EDD solutions. ClickScholar seminars allow the instructor and student to connect in real time and use content rich presentations and live applications for a realistic and interactive learning experience.

2003-2004 Looks Count…So Count on Quadrant Software
Quadrant Software surged forward with several strategic initiatives ranging from publishing several authoritative white papers and articles to significant upgrades to all of its EDD solutions including FastFax, Formtastic, E-mail Gateways.

Proving that they were still the trend-setting company in the iSeries document management market, Quadrant Software released Formatter. This spool file pre-processor cuts document page counts by 50 - 75% while increasing readability through advanced design features. With Formatter, 10 page documents shrunk down to 3-5 page documents that used less postage, paper, toner, and created less wear and tear on office hardware. By giving customers something no other competitor could offer, Quadrant Software further solidified its leadership position.

Quadrant Software also updated its hardware offerings by releasing premium high-availability models of its FastFax/Enterprise fax/email servers. Using these robust hardware configurations, customers insisting on continuous operation even when faced with power or network outages could count on Quadrant Software to ensure that their documents continued to be delivered on time and to the right person. Quadrant Software's accomplishments didn't go unrecognized. In addition to becoming a Infor Certified Partner, Quadrant Software won Search400.com's Products of The Year Award and was placed on eServer Magazine's Honor Roll. In addition, Quadrant Software won the 2003 Partner in Success Channel Connection Award for Innovative Document Management Installation.
