Save Time! Directly Attach Documents to Faxes & Emails!

Hi Ben!

Glad you asked. This is a really cool feature that is available in FastFax V4.51. Users can now directly attach many types of files to faxes/e-mails from the WindowFax client.

Up through version 4.5, attachments needed to be scanned, saved as PCX or TIF files, and then they needed to conform to FastFax specifications (i.e., 200x200 dpi, 2-color/black & white). The FastFax File Image print driver could also be used to create the appropriate TIF files.

With the new FastFax version 4.5.1 users may now continue to attach PCX/TIF files, and directly attach Word (DOC, RTF, TXT), Excel (XLS), Acrobat (PDF) and PostScript (PS) files without any scanning or manual conversion procedures. So, you save a lot of effort and time by not having to convert the documents to images prior to using WindowFax Attachments.

Since the document file will be converted to an attachable file format for faxing / emailing via the FastFax processor, the application(s) which produced the original file does not need to be present on the user’s PC. So, even though a user does not have Microsoft Word on his/her PC, that user can easily attach a Word document generated by another user.

It's a very simple process. Here's the steps:

  1. Open the FastFax WindowFax (by either choosing WindowFax from the FaxBar, or by choosing File/Print and selecting the FastFax/LAN print driver).
  2. On the Sender/Recipient Tab, enter the appropriate Recipient(s) information.
  3. Go to the Attachments Tab.
  4. Click the Import Attachments Button. Go to the Files of type: drop-down and select All files (*.*)
  5. Navigate to the appropriate folder and select the DOC, RTF, TXT, XLS, PDF or PS file to be attached to the job. Click the Open Button.
  6. A placeholder icon representing the selected file will appear on the Attachments Tab screen.
  7. If appropriate, continue to click the Import Attachments Button and repeat steps 4 and 5 to attach additional documents.
  8. When all of the desired information for the job has been set up within WindowFax, click on the Send Button to submit the job for processing.

Here's a screenshot that helps illustrate what I'm talking about:

That's it! No hassle. No fuss. Documents get attached, converted, and delivered perfectly every time.
