The leader in Electronic Document Distribution (EDD) solutions
for the iSeries 400 enterprise releases an upgrade for its premier efax
server.
TAUNTON, MA (July 1, 2003) -- Quadrant Software, the
leading developer of Electronic Document Distribution (EDD) solutions
for the iSeries enterprise, announces the immediate availability of
FastFax/Enterprise V4.5.1. This upgrade optimizes the management of
mission-critical faxing across an iSeries enterprise with a heavy investment
in Intel-based networks.
FastFax/Enterprise efax servers improve employee efficiency and reduce
the overhead costs associated with manually faxing time-sensitive business
documents. FastFax/Enterprise can be used separately or seamlessly integrated
into Quadrant Software’s EDD solutions suite, which includes Formtastic
Fusion5™ and E-Mail Gateways/eDocMail™.
FastFax/Enterprise transmits, receives, and centrally manages faxes
to and from the iSeries, Windows 2000/NT servers, Novell NetWare servers,
and Windows workstations. In addition, this solution interfaces with
Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, Novell GroupWise, and any SMTP server
to manage faxes from familiar email clients including Outlook and Notes.
Support for Email Server Clustering
By supporting clustering of email servers, FastFax/Enterprise continues
to manage the sending and receiving of mission-critical faxes after
the failure of an email server on the network.
Benefits:
- FastFax automatically switches over to another email server in case
of failure. The rerouting is seamless to the user.
- FastFax also supports load balancing among the email servers for better
overall performance in an active or passive cluster network environment.
Email Support For More File Types for Greater Ease of Use
FastFax/Enterprise V4.5.1 now can send iSeries 400 spooled files as
TXT files. The email can be generated from batch or interactive applications.
The TXT format is in addition to the currently supported TIF and PDF.
Benefit:
- Enhanced choice of documents formats provides greater flexibility
to the needs of vendors and customers. For example, by sending files
as TXT, the recipient can copy, paste or import information directly
into other applications such as Word or Excel, etc.
Attach Non-Image Files Types Directly to Outbound Fax and Email
In addition to TIF, PCX or BMP, FastFax/Enterprise V4.5.1 users can
now attach Word (DOC, RTF, TXT), Excel (XLS), Adobe Acrobat (PDF) and
Postscript (PS) documents through the PC Client -- FastFax/WindowFax.
Benefits:
- Easily attach non-image documents directly into the fax or email job.
This eliminates the time and hassle of scanning that is normally required
when converting files before transmission.
- Also, the application that generated the non-image document (e.g.
Word) does not have to be installed on the user’s PC, as the
fax/email is created on the FastFax server. This means the user can
generate a fax or email in any supported format that resides on the
network – eliminating the time and cost involved in upgrading
individual PC’s.
Pricing:
FastFax/Enterprise V4.5 starts at $10,700 (USD) for new purchases. Current
FastFax/Ultra customers wishing to upgrade to FastFax/Enterprise 4.5.1
will realize substantial cost savings.
