Formtastic Brings RFID and Advanced Query Functions to iSeries Forms Design

TAUNTON, MA (August 2005) -- Quadrant Software, the leading developer of Electronic Document Distribution (EDD) solutions for creating, managing, and delivering inbound/outbound business documents from the iSeries enterprise, announces the release of Formtastic 5.3.1 on August 11,2005, along with enhancements to its spool file pre-processor, Formatter.

Formtastic Fusion5 lets customers design and populate electronic documents with ease while eliminating costly pre-printed forms by printing to inexpensive laser printers or delivering documents automatically by email or fax. Formtastic also reformats and enhances iSeries 400 spool files by adding conditional data, logos, graphics, bar codes and other document elements with pixel-by-pixel WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) accuracy. When combined with Formatter, users cut document page counts by 50 - 75% while increasing readability and further reducing material costs related to postage and printing.

Enhancements in Formtastic Fusion5 V5.3.1 and Formatter include:

• Advanced Query Functions
  Formtastic V5.3.1 features expanded functionality when working with database files. Advanced query functions allow users to retrieve data elements from a database file and add that information to an electronic form. Being able to create forms with data residing outside the spool file offers greater flexibility when designing forms.
  
  Formatter has also been enhanced with advanced query functions allowing the creation of conditioning statements from spool files and database files. This helps to reduce document page counts even further and opens up many new and useful conditioning options.
  
  
• Expression Builder
  This new feature works with the advanced query functions and makes it easier to query and utilize database files. The expression builder 'translates' conditions into acceptable database file formats. Example: A spool file may list a social security number as 123-45-6789 (a format not accepted by database files). The expression builder can automatically convert that number to 123456789, which will be accepted by database files.
  
  In addition, Formatter's GUI has been enhanced to enable easy creation of queries using the Expression Builder.
  
  
• RFID Support
  Formtastic can now print Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) labels containing an antenna capable of sending/receiving information. This new feature makes it easier to streamline and improve supply chain processes.
  
  
• Image Manipulation
  Within Formtastic, users can now resize images after they have been placed on a form template. This applies to monochrome, color, and signature images. This allows the user to exercise more control over form elements without having to access other graphics applications.
  
  
• Enhanced PDF Support
  Formtastic can now create and deliver documents as highly functional PDF attachments with searchable text and full color formatting. Formtastic's enhanced PDF support means that PDFs look more professional and allow users to easily search document text.

Combined into a single, integrated solution, Formtastic Fusion5 and Formatter offers iSeries 400 customers the power to create and deliver professional documents to inexpensive in-house printers or to fax and email recipients using Quadrant Software’s award winning FastFax servers.
