Speeds the Design and Management of Complex Multi-Layer and Multi-Object
Forms, Reduces User Error.
TAUNTON, MA (November 7, 2002) -- Quadrant Software,
the leader in Electronic Document Distribution (EDD) solutions for the
iSeries enterprise, announces the immediate availability of Formtastic
Fusion5 V5.1. This new release dramatically enhances the five core technologies
within the company’s premier solution for digitally creating,
populating, and managing electronic forms, bar code labels, and MICR
checks.
Formtastic Fusion5 allows for the easy modification and delivery of
iSeries 400 spool files and database members without programmer intervention,
and completely transforms the process of creating and printing mission-critical
documents using plain paper printers to streamline workflow and eliminate
expensive pre-printed forms.
The new 5.1 release makes Formtastic Fusion5’s core components
even more user-friendly while providing powerful tools for quicker implementation
of complex form designs and reduced troubleshooting. Changes to Formtastic
Fusion5’s central technologies include:
This advanced, client-based design tool allows design elements and
spool text to be precisely placed. Using a dual-window view, designers
drag-and-drop spool data to a professional design window incorporating
images, graphics, typographical fonts, and number-to-bar code conversions.
New features include:
- Greater Control Over Multi-Layer and Multi-Object Selections
Using the right-click button, users view and arrange a list of underlying
objects within a form design. This new tool prevents the accidental
movement of a form element, disruption of underlying objects, and
ensures accurate updating of multi-layers of objects.
- Modify Object Print Order for Increased Print Accuracy and
Efficiency
Adjust the print order of all objects for greater control. Easily
view and manipulate object parameters, including attributes and conditioning,
enabling rapid change of multiple items.
- Improved Object Alignment and Font Manipulation for Clear,
Crisp Documents
Provides options for centering text within a box and aligning multiple
text and/or graphics for greater design flexibility in fewer steps.
- New Spin Control Buttons Provide Fine-Tuning
Enables micro-movements to precisely place and move objects for rapid
fine tuning to single or multiple objects.
This change management feature provides easy check-in and check-out
control when managing multiple form design versions. Electronically
manage document changes ranging from address updates to form redesigns
while reducing the risk of human error and cutting production steps
out of the design process. New features include:
- Greater Flexibility with Templates
Upload a documents without checking it in to enable rapid testing
of changes while work is in progress.
An efficient data-mapping tool for on-screen WYSIWYG renderings of
spool text based on the printer destination. Test documents online and
eliminate guesswork and the time consuming processes associated with
testing printed output to multiple printer types. SmartMAP’s on-screen
rendering tool displays the printed output as it appears on each printer
destination. New features include:
- Increased User Awareness of Varying Printer Capabilities
This tool now includes warning messages occurring when users attempt
to place objects outside the printable area. Warnings also inform
the user of differences in printer capabilities and eliminate trial-and-error
in forms design.
Turn static data from any spool file into intelligent information that
logically creates and reformats documents based on easily installed
conditional commands. IntelliDOC adds programming logic to automatically
determine which documents to print, fax, or email, or how a document
appears, all without costly modifications to programs that generate
the spool file. New features include:
- Modify a Range of Lines for Easy, Accurate Conditioning
Add conditioning to a range of lines, rather than just a single line,
for sophisticated form handling with a single command. Speed design
implementation by reducing repetitive work.
This connectivity tool seamlessly manages documents, images, and fonts
between the iSeries 400 and connected clients when designing forms,
checks, and labels. Eliminate the need to manually update clients with
iSeries 400 document changes and vice versa. Synchronizer ensures that
the document’s most current version is in the right place and
in the right hands. New features include:
- Improved Startup Performance and Connectivity to iSeries
400
Streamlined startup procedure determines connectivity status and eliminates
the need for user interaction. Faster loading of data and system information
from disk improves the speed at which users begin working with new
or existing documents.
Formtastic Processing Engine Includes New Output Enhancements:
- Improved Complex-Criteria Output Management
Support for forms sets allow designers to specify a printer source
drawer for each form in the set, encompassing complex output criteria
including a variety of paper stock and color. By combining form sets,
distribution lists, and the merge command, users have a variety of
ways to produce complex document sets.
- Enhanced Collation Function
Designers can now collate forms based on distribution lists. This
new feature functions as part of the merge or distribution list to
allow multi-copy form output to collate in reference to the proper
spool-file page number.
- Support for AFP Output from DDS File Merges
Enables production of documents from database files as well as spool
files.
Tighter Formtastic Integration with FastFax and eDocMail:
- Supports Advanced Destination Conditioning
Formtastic now supports sending multi-part forms to multiple fax and
email destinations, routing specific copies to intended recipients.
- Multi-Recipient Support Added
Broadcast completed forms to multiple recipients using enhancement
that identify multiple recipients within a spool file and matching
those recipients to the FastFax PhoneBooks.
- Support for All FastFax API Commands
Formtastic supports all FastFax API commands, giving users significantly
greater flexibility in distributing and controlling the document electronically.
- More Flexible Document and Coversheet Formatting
Control variable cover sheet information data within the Formtastic
template setup either as a static entry or through the extraction
of data from the spool file. Create cover sheet notes from data residing
in the spool data or leave static according to the user profile.

iSeries 400 customers the power to create and deliver professional
