forms > how it works
Formtastic works with data readily available in your spool files. The solution makes it easy to design document templates which are then stored on your iSeries (AS400). Formtastic then constantly monitors the forms output queue on your iSeries (AS400). When it finds spooled data, it captures its value, enhances its appearance, moves it to the desired location, and merges it with the appropriate document template to generate the perfect document every time. Once the perfect document is generated, Formtastic can pre-sort documents using multiple criteria to make documents easier to batch fax or email, bulk mail, or review manually. Formtastic forms can also be saved as PDF or TIFF files that can be stored in network folders or archiving / imaging systems. Formtastic is a native iSeries (AS400) application that takes advantage of the reliability of the IBM platform. However, while the solution’s forms processing engine resides on the IBM server, its client application runs on Windows. This hybrid approach allows users to easily create and manage forms from their desktops via a GUI interface. The solution itself is architected around five main areas of functionality: Change Management: Formtastic’s VersionManager is a change management feature offering document check-in and check-out functionality to ensure version control. Onscreen WYSIWYG Document Previews: Formtastic’s SmartMAP is a document preview feature that enables users to preview they way their documents will print before physically printing them to ensure they will print correctly on a selected printer. Programming Logic: Formtastic’s IntelliDOC is a programming logic feature that determines which documents to print, fax, or email, and how those documents should appear. Connectivity Tools: Formtastic’s Synchronizer, is a connectivity tool that manages documents, images and fonts between the iSeries (AS400) and connected clients, and helps eliminate the need to manually update clients with iSeries (AS400) document changes and vice versa. |
